Current Sponsored Students

Mohammed Juma

Mohammed is the first sponsored student to arrive in Year 10. The advantage of taking a student into the school a bit earlier, is that they have time to adapt to the British system and improve their English before starting work in the sixth form. Mohammed arrived to us from Mombasa and had starred in a film, and participated in the National Youth Choir in Kenya. He is also a strong athlete and has competed in long distance running.

Marion Mtei

EAST has agreed to sponsor Marion with $3000 a year towards the cost of her college fees in Dubai. She started a 3 years degree in January 2021 with Middlesex University to study Maths and Business. She was supported with her application and was given a $4000 scholarship from the university for each year and with this additional amount from EAST, she could afford to go. She has settled in well to the university well and is working hard. She hopes to return to Tanzania to become an accountant or a teacher once she has finished her degree.

After this, he took a gap year at Braeburn, teaching individual music lessons to students in the primary school and supporting students in the Maths department. He is studying Mechanical Design, Manufacture & Automation  Engineering.  He started his course in September 2019 and dreams of getting work experience in a company like BMW, which has a plant close to his college or going onto a Masters degree in Robotics sustainable energy, Nano technology or bio engineering.
